Mayadevi
Mayadevi, the mother of Buddha, who was born in the 6. century before Chr. as Prince Siddharta and she was the wife of king Suddondana from Kapilavastu, south-west Nepal. Iconographically, she is shown in a standing tribhanga (twisted) pose on a lotus with left hand in boon-giving pose and right hand lifted to hold a branch of a tree, as it is known at the time of delivery she held a branchof a sal (shorea). She wears a crown and ornaments.
